Evolution of Women’s Work Wear
The constant sufferings from centuries made women think that they were only made for household work and taking care of the house. In today’s day and age women have established themselves in various kinds of jobs, but it was only in the early 1900s that women started to get in jobs like in the factories and domestic service tasks. Talking about fashion from back then, clothing choices were limited. But as we all very well know; nothing can stop a woman from expressing herself.
So did the women back then by wearing hair ribbons, boots of their choice, and wearing bandanas. As the years kept passing, there were fashion waves that emerged which potentially stopped women from wearing corsets and they opted for more comfortable clothing. As we go further in time, in the late 1930s when the 2nd World War was happened, men went for war, and women were obliged to take up the place of men in their individual households, and we are pretty sure they did a fabulous job back then too. You might also agree that, that was the turning point when the world realized that women were equally worthy of outside jobs as men.
Continuing with our fashion history – in the 1940s and 50s the clothing became more comfortable because of the shortage of fabrics. That was the time when yours and our favorite swing skirts emerged. Continuing with the 1960s, there was a revolution, not the kind of revolution that you are thinking about. We would likely call it a fashion revolution. Any guesses – the great fashion revolution was called “The Pop Culture”, and this was the time when women started investing their efforts in dressing and experimenting by wearing things like short skirts and boxy jackets, quite awesome!
